Personal Data Protection Policy / Privacy Policy
Agua For Autism
At Agua For Autism, we are committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of those who visit our website, request information, become donors, volunteers, or partners, and, most importantly, the children and young people who benefit from our projects and their families.
This policy explains what data we collect, what we use it for, how we protect it, and what your rights are.
1. Data Controller
Agua For Autism, a non-profit foundation established in Canada that supports foundations dedicated to vulnerable children, adolescents, and young people and/or those with disabilities in Colombia, is responsible for the processing of personal data collected through this website and our activities.
For any questions, requests, or the exercise of your rights regarding your data, you can write to us at info@aguafoundation.org.
2. Data We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Information requests and contact. Name, email address, and the content of the message you send us through the website’s contact form.
Donations. When donating online, payment data is processed directly by the payment platform we use (for example, an external payment gateway); Agua For Autism does not store card numbers or complete financial data, only the information necessary to issue receipts and maintain contact with our donors (name, email, amount, and date of the donation).
Newsletter. If you subscribe to our updates, we collect your email address to send you information about our projects and activities. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Stories, photographs, and testimonials of beneficiaries. As part of our outreach efforts, we may publish on the website and on social media photographs, names (or first names only), and stories of the children and young people who benefit from our projects and from partner foundations. This information is only published when we have the informed and express consent of the parents or legal guardians, and may include sensitive data related to the minor’s disability status.
3. What We Use Your Data For
We use the data we collect to: respond to information requests; manage donations and issue certificates or receipts; keep you informed about our projects if you have subscribed; give visibility to the work of the foundation and our partners, for awareness-raising and fundraising purposes; and comply with legal and accounting obligations applicable to a non-profit organization.
We do not sell or trade personal data under any circumstances.
4. Data of Children and Adolescents
Protecting minors is a priority for us. We only publish or share data, images, or stories of child and adolescent beneficiaries when there is prior, express, and informed authorization from their parents or legal guardians, granted through the corresponding partner foundation. Any parent or legal guardian may request the correction or deletion of this information at any time by writing to the contact email indicated in this policy.
5. Cookies and Browsing
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience, enable the proper functioning of the site, and, in some cases, analyze site usage. Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit our website. These may include cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function, as well as optional cookies (for example, to remember your preferences or analyze visit statistics), depending on the tools we have enabled at any given time. You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functioning of some parts of the site.
As we incorporate new tools that use cookies, we will update this policy to specify their type and purpose.
6. Who We Share Data With
We may share personal data with: the payment platform used to process online donations; technology service providers who help us operate the website or send newsletters (for example, email services); and partner foundations in Colombia (such as FUNDAMISER), solely in relation to the joint management of the projects we support. We do not share data with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes unrelated to our work.
7. International Data Transfer
Due to the nature of our work, some data may be transferred between Canada and Colombia (for example, between Agua For Autism and the partner foundations we support). When this occurs, we will take reasonable measures to ensure that the information receives an adequate level of protection in both countries, as well as in other countries where donors may reside.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or for the period required by applicable law (for example, for accounting or tax purposes), after which it will be securely deleted or anonymized.
9. Information Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we collect against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
10. Your Rights
As the owner of your personal data, you have the right to: know, update, and correct your data; request proof of the authorization granted; be informed about how your data has been used; file complaints with the competent authority; revoke your authorization and/or request the deletion of your data, when there is no legal duty or contractual obligation preventing its deletion; and access your data free of charge.
To exercise these rights, write to us at info@aguafoundation.org stating your request. We will respond within a reasonable period of time.
11. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable regulations. The date of the last update will be indicated at the end of this document. We invite you to review it periodically.
12. Contact
If you have questions about this policy or about the processing of your personal data, contact us at info@aguafoundation.org.
